The Controversy

From the beginning, chiropractic was founded on the fact that the nervous system heals and controls every cell, tissue, organ and system in the body.  A subluxation (misalignment in the spine) blocking nerve flow decreases the body's ability to heal itself. Chiropractors locate and adjust subluxations restoring the body's natural ability to heal and function properly.

The traditional medical approach ignores this innate healing ability and treats the body from the outside in with either drugs or surgery.

In an act to destroy the chiropratic profession, the American Medical Association (AMA) refused to refer or recommend chiropractic to their patients.  In 1990, the AMA was found guilty of this hanus act in the U.S. Federal Court. Although we won in court, the chiropractic profession has much work to do in order to restore their reputaion as a great healing art.
